seeking project manager
In May 2007 Dance Parade New York brought together over 4000 dancers and 13 floats down New York's Broadway and Fifth Avenue in the first-ever parade and festival to celebrate all forms of dance--everything from African to zydeco, belly to breakdance and salsa to swing. The first year success shows that Dance Parade can and should grow to be a positive force and energetic expression of our diverse dance communities. We are now building the team that will drive Dance Parade's tremendous growth into a City institution in our second year.
We seek a motivated individual with good project management skills who can spend 5 to 10 hours per week keeping working with our Managing Director to keep our team on task with a variety of projects. We meet every Wednesday in midtown Manhattan and much of the tasks can be done at home on a personal computer.
Dance Parade 2008's Project Manager Role Description:
- Tracks project to-dos and milestones on DanceNet, aka Basecamp
- Directly contacts team leaders weekly [on Monday/Tuesday] to gather updates and provide follow-up for to-dos and milestones
- Updates DanceNet to-dos and milestones weekly [on Monday/Tuesday] with helpful notes on each item’s status and needs
- With Managing Director, directly contacts team leaders weekly [on Tuesday] to confirm weekly meeting attendance and/or gather updates and action points, and share meeting notes with, team leaders in case of absence/lateness
- Organizes DanceNet projects and record keeping
- Updates Googlegroups and Googledocs with user access permissions when new memebers come on board
- Maintains and updates team member contact information on DanceNet
- Facilitates team communication by helping engineer and guide team members in using DanceNet, the Dance Parade web site, Googledocs, e-mail lists, and other communications and team-building resources
- Powerful drive and motivation
